KUALA LUMPUR: Ukraine is looking to expand the presence of its products in Malaysia, with Sabah emerging as a potential new market for high-quality Ukrainian food products, including confectionery and wines.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia said it is encouraging importers and distributors in Sabah to explore opportunities to introduce Ukrainian products to consumers in the state.
According to the embassy, Ukrainian food products, including confectionery and wines, were recently showcased at exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur, where they attracted interest from both Malaysian and international consumers.
“We are particularly interested in promoting high-quality Ukrainian food products, including confectionery and Ukrainian wines, which have been recently presented during exhibitions in Kuala Lumpur and already attracted interest among Malaysian and foreign consumers.

“We would be pleased to see greater engagement with businesses in Sabah and encourage local importers and distributors to explore opportunities to introduce Ukrainian products to the Sabah market,” the embassy said in a statement.
The embassy said it hoped Sabahans would soon have the opportunity to taste and discover Ukrainian wines, confectionery and other products.

More broadly, Ukraine sees significant potential to expand bilateral trade with Malaysia and further strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Malaysia’s strategic location, developed business environment and strong links across ASEAN could position the country as an important gateway for Ukrainian products seeking access to the wider Southeast Asian market.
“The Embassy remains committed to supporting Ukrainian businesses in exploring the Malaysian and broader ASEAN markets and to facilitating new partnerships between Ukrainian and Malaysian companies.
“We see Malaysia not only as an important market in its own right, but also as a potential regional hub for Ukrainian products in Southeast Asia,” it said.
The initiative could open further opportunities for commercial partnerships between businesses from both countries, including collaboration with importers and distributors based in Sabah.
