King Mohammed VI tells Gulf rulers their security is Morocco’s security

King Mohammed VI held phone calls on Saturday with leaders of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar following what Morocco described as Iranian attacks on the sovereignty of those countries, the royal palace said.

A statement from the Royal Cabinet said the King spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

During the calls, the King “renewed the Kingdom of Morocco’s strong condemnation of the blatant attacks” that targeted “the sovereignty of these brotherly states and the integrity of their territories,” and expressed Morocco’s “full support” for “all legitimate measures” the countries deem appropriate to preserve their security and reassure their citizens, the statement said.

The King also stressed that Gulf security is directly linked to Morocco’s own stability. “The security and stability of the Gulf Arab states are an indivisible part of the security and stability of the Kingdom of Morocco,” the statement quoted him as saying, adding that any infringement on their safety is “a serious and unacceptable assault” and “a direct threat to stability in the region.”
