KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Law Society (SLS) has clarified that it is not involved in organising a proposed public gathering following the circulation of promotional materials linking the Society to the event.
The gathering, described as Himpunan Aman “Justice4Sabah”, is scheduled for April 10.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the Society noted that its name and/or logo appeared in certain circulated materials.
“No authorisation has been given for such use,” the statement said.
The Society’s position remains that matters presently before the courts should be addressed through the proper legal process.
“In that regard, the Society continues to discharge its role as an independent Bar, focused on the ongoing proceedings.
“Members of the Sabah Law Society, as individuals, are of course free to participate in any lawful activities in their personal capacity.”
The statement added that the Society will continue to act in accordance with its mandate and in the best interests of justice.
