SANDAKAN: DAP Sabah Secretary Vivian Wong has called for stronger intergenerational collaboration, stressing that the party’s future depends on unity between its senior leaders and emerging voices.

She said that only through cooperation between the old and new generations can DAP Sabah continue to grow, progress, and deliver lasting change for the people of Sabah.

Vivian urged all members to remain united and steadfast, saying that unity and conviction are the keys to winning the upcoming Sabah election together with the people.

“Politics is not an individual contest, but a long relay that requires teamwork and shared effort. Every generation has a role to play in carrying the torch forward, one baton at a time.

“Only through this continuous relay can we achieve greater victories for the people,” she said.

Vivian reaffirmed that DAP will never forget the sacrifices of its founding members and veteran leaders, whose perseverance built the foundation of today’s party.

She added that each generation carries its own historic mission. The pioneers laid the groundwork and defined the ideals, while the younger members must now advance those principles through service and renewal.

Echoing the message often delivered by DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke, Vivian said the younger generation’s task is not to replace, but to revitalise the party by fusing experience with innovation.

“True renewal is not about replacing the old with the young,” she explained. “It is about building trust between generations combining the wisdom of experience with the innovation of youth.”

Vivian also acknowledged the contributions of senior figures such as Chan Foong Hin, noting that their mentorship continues to shape and guide DAP Sabah’s next generation of leaders.

“In DAP, no one stands above the party. Whether senior or young, every member contributes to our collective strength,” she said.

Touching on recent resignations of several former leaders, Vivian expressed gratitude for their service and wished them well, describing politics as “a long journey where everyone must choose their own path.”

She added that she was deeply moved by the loyalty and perseverance of members who continue to stand firm through challenges and storms.

Vivian also commended DAP Sabah Chairman Phoong Jin Zhe for his leadership and commitment, calling him a testament to capable youth leadership in government.

As Sabah heads toward the next state polls, Vivian urged members to stay focused on unity, trust, and service.

“Our focus must remain clear — to stay united, to strengthen our foundation, and to win the people’s confidence through service. Let us not be distracted by noise, but stay committed to building a fairer, better Sabah together.”
